The Position
Provide analytical support by proactively monitoring business developments and market trends, research, project coordination, and maintains related tools and systems required by Novo Nordisk’s US Marketing Operations Team. Create, refine and update quantitative tracking models and systems, along with documented supporting assumptions. Develop communications materials including slides and reports reflecting clear and concise conclusions and recommendations for key stakeholders. Proactively support NNI and Commercial in developing strategic vision via in-depth internal and external benchmarks for operations analyses. Contribute to strategic insights development and understanding of company operational performance, pull-through, as well as ability to triangulate multiples resources to develop innovative solutions to complex, unstructured problems with minimal guidance. Provide support to Marketing Operations and Sub Team (AAM, Business Support, Convention Marketing, DAOS, PCCC, PMM (PRB & Production, PCCC, and SMEM) Leadership and Stakeholder Leadership via tactical execution and management of advanced analytics and business trends.

Reports to the Senior Director, Marketing Operations. Internal relationships include close interactions with cross functional colleagues in, Commercial, Medical, Market Access, Finance and Operations, IT, as well as global partners.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and sustain close working relationships with key business partners, including commercial, medical and operations business colleagues (US & Global) as required
  • Proactively monitoring areas of concern or opportunity for enhancements and lead recommendations/proposals, lead and co-lead relevant analysis as needed
  • Development and execution of presentations with clear storylines, grounded on holistic business concepts and communicate key conclusions and business recommendations/implications (what/so what and now what) to business partners and peers through formal and informal channels
  • Analytical thinker and creative problem solver, ability to influence others with verbal and written communication
  • Crafts clear narrative, uses it to develop own perspective and recommendations, even if others may disagree, and takes a stand
  • Advocate and be a champion of our team, business partners and customers, demonstrate inherent interest in people, intense curiosity to decipher and understand data, human behaviour and desire to drive insights into action
  • Contribute to hypotheses driven investigations into detailed channel dynamics, prescriber, patient and transactional data.
  • Maintains and develops (in close collaboration with internal IT) databases and analytic applications in environments such as SAP, Excel/Access, and/or other proprietary environments.
  • Updates and process secondary data feeds from industry sources (e.g. Veeva, SalesForce, Oracle, Maritz, SAP, Ariba and other sources, etc) and internal data (PRB files, customer contact, and other operations and financial data, etc.) into excel and/or other custom programs.
  • Support and develop analyses for team and business partners and other business groups (e.g. identification of key performance indicators/leading indicators, ad-hoc customer segment-level reports and trend reports for internal teams).
  • Contribute to the day-to-day project management of qualitative and quantitative operations research projects, collaborating with data trends (i.e. Benchmark, performance, operations, financial and other) to inform strategic and tactical program optimization, with supervision of senior marketing operations leaders.
  • Champion the Triple Bottom Line in Operations Research, Secondary Analytics and internal strategy consulting
  • Ensure alignment of initiatives to company’s overall vision aligned to the business strategic focus areas and departments goals
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables, negotiate trade-offs, work efficiently, and ensure deadlines are met
  • Works well under pressure, with initiative to take on unfamiliar tasks

Physical Requirements
10-20% overnight travel required


  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Math, Science, Engineering required, MBA a plus
  • A minimum of 2-3 years relevant experience in operations, marketing, market research, forecasting, sales analysis, finance, academic research and/or investigation, pricing, or other related areas
  • Strong affinity and desire for analytic problem solving, quantitative, and qualitative analysis skills required
  • Knowledge and understanding of SalesForce, Oracle, Veeva, SAP, Ariba data and/or other secondary industry sources preferred
  • Experience/working knowledge within several of the following areas a plus:
  • Experience with analytics tools such as SPC, SAS or R
  • Mathematical modelling for prediction, clustering and classification
  • Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills. MS Access or another database platform required
  • Creative problem solving; ability to organize/manipulate data and see big picture from scattered pieces of information
  • Ability to work across functions, in a matrix environment partnering with the business partners within Novo Nordisk where a high degree of collaboration and influence is required
  • Expert PowerPoint and Excel skills. MS Access or another database platform a plus
  • Strong writing, presentation, project management skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
  • Positive and eagerness to learn, collaborate and partner with internal business colleagues
