The Position
Serves as an internal center of excellence within Commercial Insights and Analytics with respect to Return on Investment and Marketing Mix analytics. This role provides holistic, insight-driven marketing investment consultation to all levels of internal stakeholders via portfolio and brand level analytics that drive evidence-based strategic and tactical decisions, most critically within the brand planning process and overall commercial budgeting scenario analyses. In addition, this role is responsible for managing test and control procedures and specific projects designed to test the effectiveness of Commercial pilots and plans, most significantly those involving Sales Force Effectiveness, Direct to Comsumer (DTC) Media, and Market Development/Interface campaigns.

Reports to a Senior Director within the Commercial Insights and Analytics department. Internal relationships include interactions with Diabetes, Obesity, and BioPharm Marketing Vice Presidents (VPs) and Brand leads, extended brand teams, Commercial Planning and Operations, global Commercial Effectiveness counterparts and global Commercial brand teams. Other relationships include interactions with other members of Commercial Insights and Analytics and Field Force Strategy and Operations, Forecasting, Supply Chain, Finance, and IT.

External relationships include suppliers responsible for media effectiveness testing and software representing the NNI Marketing Mix model. The role is intended to provide direction to multiple team members at varying levels and may manage contingent workers on an as-needed basis.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, manages, and improves the Marketing Mix model for all key NNI brands to inform budget and resource allocation decisions in the Commercial space. Responsibility includes assuring that the Marketing Mix results are communicated effectively to all levels of the business
  • Works with Commercial Planning and Operations to assist in DTC budget allocation scenario planning as well as to assure appropriate DTC campaign effectiveness testing is performed
  • Works with Field Force Strategy and Operations to assure appropriate sample budget allocation
  • Establishes and owns the appropriate test and control procedures to measure the effectiveness of Commercial pilots and programs
  • Oversees team of varying levels and provides coaching and performance management when necessary
  • Develops and improves close working relationships with key stakeholders in the Commercial organization as well as in Field Force Strategy and Operations, Finance and Supply Chain, and IT. Proactively brings together cross functional teams to develop solutions to business issues
  • Develops and/or reviews/approves presentations with clear storylines to communicate key conclusions and recommendations based on data driven evidence
  • Champion the Triple Bottom Line in Business Analytics and internal strategy consulting and ensure all contracts are fully compliant with standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Strive to maintain awareness of 'best practices' in Market Mix modeling across industries by maintaining a current familiarity with data sources, MMM techniques and MMM agencies

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physical Science, Computer Science, or Economics; MS required
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in marketing science, forecasting, sales analysis, financial analysis, pricing/econometrics, or other fields affording the responsibility of deriving insights and actions from statistical analyses; statistical experience required
  • Ability to balance multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Ability to collect and synthesize complex information, making it relevant, understandable and actionable for key stakeholders
  • Ability to guide members of team toward achieving objectives and sets direction of self and others accordingly
  • Ability to solve complex, unstructured problems; able to see big picture from scattered pieces of information and present complex and disparate data in a clear and concise manner
  • Excellent writing, presentation, project management and strong influencing skills required
  • Experience with IQVIA or Symphony data preferred
  • Expert MS Office®, Advanced Python, SAS®, or R, SQL-type database platform skills required. NoSQL database platform experience preferred
  • Track record of providing direction and training to team members
