The Position

Accountable for contributing to the development and implementation of the Market Development Plan and key strategic imperatives related to the insulin portfolio marketing strategy, including identifying relevant decision makers, influencers and advocates. Accountable for implementing an efficient market development plan to maximize the number of stakeholders interested in treating the assigned product disease state effectively. This includes necessary analyses to drive decision making and liaises with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders.


Reports to the Sr Director of Mkt Development, Diabetes Portfolio. Works closely with many cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial Field Sales organization, PAR, Government Affairs, Medical Affairs and Operations, Managed Markets, HCP and Patient marketers, to seek input into strategy and gain development plan alignment. Other internal relationships include colleagues in CO&E, regulatory, legal, global marketing and global medical. External relationships include relations with professional services vendors, key thought leaders and other organizations for the therapy area.

Essential Functions

•Contribute to the strategic development of the insulin portfolio market development and HCP engagement plans, aligned with commercial brand strategies
•Design innovative promotional education programs and content to reach target customers.
•Drive strategic marketing advisory boards and provide advisory insights to support development of insulin portfolio strategy and tactics. Close collaboration with CMR on KOL identification and engagement strategies
•Accountable for managing the insulin portfolio market development and HCP/Community engagement budget and budgeting process.
•Makes sound decisions to optimize spend and ensure that resources are appropriately allocated and quality of services are maintained while costs remain on track and according to budget.
•Monitor agency expenses by looking for opportunities to maximize value while minimizing agency costs.
•Follow internal and external procedures in managing contracts. Regularly tracks and reconciles expenses to ensure budget is on track.
•Considerations on inline (commercial brands) vs. launch brands for portfolio optimization.
•Close collaboration with CMR on management and development of insulin portfolio market development and HCP engagement strategies and tactics, including promotional education, marketing advisory boards, publication communications, congress optimization activities, and speaker bureau management.
•Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to
•Ensures projects costs stays within budget
•Evaluates project impact vs investment ROI
•Partners with Marketing Effectiveness team to develop and oversee implementation of key metrics (ROI / Impact).
•Develop and maintain strong relationship with stakeholders; continually seek intelligence. Actively participate in relevant professional meetings and conferences.
•Develops and implements market development tactical plans
•Develops relationships with and receives commitment from relevant NNI and NN A/S departments to ensure the successful execution of strategies
•Implementation of key metrics. Regularly reviews current program progress to ensure profitability goals are on track
•Implementation of promotional and training programs, including coordination of involved external suppliers and agencies
•Maximizes investment impact and understands return on investment (ROI) concepts to ensure program effectiveness.
•Develops strong relationships/partners with Medical Affairs, Managed Market, Government Affairs and other corporate stakeholders within NNI and Global to ensure alignment and leverage
•Develops various tactics – market research, communications, budgeting and forecasting, advertising, public relations, sales force promotion, patient education, etc. Works with medical and marketing functions to create and implement market development strategies.
•Identifies strategic and tactical gaps and works diligently to address them. Develops and executes accurate short and long-term plans, forecasting, and business analysis. Ensures timely execution and follow-up, meets deadlines, prioritizes projects and time, anticipate problems and roadblocks to avoid crisis management.
•Participates in teams and works cross-functionally to integrate all plans and strategies and ensure strategic alignment.

Physical Requirements
30-40% overnight travel required

•A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
•A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant inline marketing, new product commercialization, and/or sales experience, demonstrating a steady career progression with increasing roles of responsibility within the pharmaceutical industry is required.
•Knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area is preferred.
•Proven track record of effective strategic planning, execution and follow up.
•Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace
•Strong ability to work on cross-functional teams.
•Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and implementing market development plans.
•Strong presentation and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work across departments and lead multi-functional teams.
