The Position
The Associate Manager, Clinical Finance facilitates the management of divisional budgets for Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory Affairs (CMR). The incumbent will manage and ensure the accuracy and transparency of local operating budget, including budget cycling, accruals, chargebacks and transfers.


Relationships
The Associate Manager, Clinical Finance, reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical Finance. The incumbent works closely with directors and senior leadership, legal, finance and other departments within Clinical Medical and Regulatory (CMR).


Essential Functions
  • The Associate Manager, Clinical Finance, manages functional budgets, contracting, and vendor relationships within Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory Affairs (CMR) providing insights and updates to key stakeholders and the senior leadership team
  • Maintains timely provision of financial reporting, risks & opportunities analysis and ongoing insight(s) to all levels of division management to ensure financial performance is in line with expectations
  • Manages and ensures the accuracy and transparency of local operating budget, including budget cycling, accruals, chargebacks, and transfers
  • Proactively identifies financial opportunities or risks and partners with internal stakeholders to develop, plan and execute on the opportunity or mitigation
  • Creates financial analysis showing actual vs. budget alongside any variance commentary
  • Responsible for the financial reporting, analytics and submission of key financial deliverables; including annual budget (AB), month end, and rolling estimate (RE)
  • Manage all manual adjustment journal entries/re-classes on a monthly basis
  • Serves as an expert in Scientific Alliance Management on company key policies and processes related to contracting and vendor management, including key financial assumptions, key performance indicators (KPIs) and milestones

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.


Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree is required
  • At least 5 years of progressively finance/accounting experience required, an understanding in R&D and clinical operations is a plus
  • Financial budgeting, modeling and analytical experience required, contracting experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with local and global stakeholders to design and execute financial analyses to support decision-making and planning
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality, attention to detail and providing the highest quality services to internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced capability in Excel, PowerPoint and Word required, SAP experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment to lead and drive complex operational initiatives and share best practices with finance counterparts
  • Able to multi-task, set effective priorities and implement decisions to achieve immediate as well as long-term goals
  • Team player with a positive attitude, who can work with minimal direction. Ability to plan, schedule, and arrange own activities in accomplishing objectives
