The Position
Provide dedicated support to Human resources (HR) and the Learning and Development (L&D) team. Ensure implementation and execution of HR and L&D strategies in alignment with Novo Nordisk’s vision, goals and objectives to achieve superior business results. Assist the Director, Training Operations with essential department processes and programs related to training curricula execution and additional key projects as assigned. Responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of training curricula as it relates to the technical, product and disease state knowledge, engagement skills and administrative responsibilities of Novo Nordisk employees. Develop and manage programs that will enable the participants to achieve performance and business objectives.

The Associate Manager reports to the Director, Learning & Development Operations and interacts with all L&D departments, department leads from Medical, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Facilities and Sales, vendors, as well as employees within consulting areas. Develops high value relationships with all departments across Novo Nordisk and liaises with key stakeholders. External relationships include interaction with vendors, as needed for training needs. Works closely with Field Trainers to ensure execution of all established curricula.

Essential Functions
Fiscal: Establishes, oversees implementation and monitors adherence to administrative policies and procedures for L&D Training Operations. Has awareness of department budgets and aids in achievement of budget goals by working with team members through execution of all programs. Manage budget according to program design allotments. Needs Assessment/Design/Delivery: Participate in the development of the L&D Key Event Calendar. Assist with analysing of department needs using key event calendar to aid in decision making around priorities and overarching L&D planning & execution of training curricula. Manage all phases of project management and coordination of training curricula with speakers, vendors, Learning & Development Field and Learning & Development Operations. Responsible for managing the execution of training programs as “Classroom Manager” being executed either in Princeton or as required elsewhere. Responsible for the development of the event agenda. Work with L&D teams and stakeholders for the alignment to agenda priorities per event. Lead the coordination and execution of all home study requirements for the training curricula. Responsible for the coordination of all material/content for all training programs. Responsible for the communication with key stakeholders of all important information/timelines as related to event execution. Main point of contact for content for the Class Facilitator before, during and post event. Responsible for any communication with attendees for event execution, home study and post event follow up. Work with the Meeting Logistics team for planning/execution of events. Understand the promotional review board (PRB) process and have ability to manage a L&D Operations piece or L&D team resource if required through PRB. Acquire and maintain a high level of training methods, technical, product and competitive knowledge. Assist in the building of analytics to define successful tracking mechanism for all training across the organization. Assist in conducting needs analysis which will assist in evaluating and designing basic and advanced training programs. Implement training programs and materials for sales force expansions or adaptations. Evaluate and recommend appropriate programs or materials from outside resources to fill training and development needs. Manage the development and execution of all non-brand training materials and updates as needed. May design and deliver some, and oversee all basic and advanced non-brand training as needed. Training & Development: Primary liaison with L&D Field Manager, L&D Leadership, Marketing, Marketing Operations, Medical, Legal, Compliance and Managed Care to develop, design & execute training curricula for implementation. Participate in the analyzing and evaluation of training including product or disease, leadership, and technical training, which will incorporate various learning channels such as e-learning, modular, video/audio and simulation techniques.

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required


  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
  • 4 or more years of pharmaceutical sales and/or sales training experience
  • L&D or pharma experience that includes disease state/unbranded knowledge with ability to lead content discussions and represent L&D to the learners
  • Excellent interpersonal or communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Understanding of the Novo Nordisk PRB (promotional review board) process is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Proven performance track record or superior sales performance results
  • This is a developmental position. Must have strong interest in progressing into product management, field management, managed healthcare roles and/or greater responsibility within Learning & Development
