The Position
Facilitates leadership alignment, collaboration and organizational effectiveness within assigned Commercial area, the cross-functional partners within Novo Nordisk Inc. and the global organization. Leads and coordinates strategic projects ensuring alignment and maximization of the assigned = franchise. Supports Vice President (VP) to drive overall governance decisions, sets direction to project work teams and executive decision making. Projects may include contribution and feedback to global initiatives, enterprise-wide organizational or business initiatives. Profit and Loss (P&L) decisions and management, resource prioritization, portfolio and pipeline management. Aligns with company’s short-term and long-term planning cycles. Responsible for franchise brand budget process and financial management. Provides executive support to the Vice President (VP) of the assigned Commercial area and governs/coordinates projects and programs. Responsible for preparing executive information, sharing materials and recommendations for Commercial area, Commercial Leadership Team (CLT), Executive Team, Global Core Commercialization Team (CCT) and other Executive bodies. Responsible for overall internal communication of the Commercial area via all available channels and to all relevant stakeholders. Puts together an internal communication plan on an ongoing basis, follows-up, coordinates suitable content and format and executes on the plan.

Reports to the VP of the Assigned Commercial area. This position is a member of the Commercial Area Leadership Team (LT). This position interacts with senior leadership and works closely with key stakeholders across NNI and global functions. Will guide cross-departmental project managers to ensure consistency and efficiency in how approved initiatives are managed and executed. External relationships include interactions with vendors and consultants based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs. Provides oversight for cross-organizational working groups to ensure alignment. Interacts with senior leadership teams and presents to senior leadership on critical matters of interest. May be consulted on matters of significant importance to the group, company and is relied heavily on in the absence of the VP.

Essential Functions
  • Supports the VP on key strategic opportunities and initiatives as well as on executive reporting, presentations and communication. Drives strategic projects in alignment with company priorities, direction and Novo Nordisk way
  • Provides analytical support as it relates to all aspects of assigned Commercial area business, including P&L analysis
  • Establishes, reports out on and monitors Commercial area KPIs and shared goals performance. Oversees analysis of multi-faceted, complex issues; guides identification of new solutions, concepts and tools to improve performance inform
  • Lead the assigned Commercial area P&L and budget consolidation and management process to ensure full transparency and optimal allocation of allocated funds
  • Lead Operating Model initiatives within the assigned Commercial area and represent assigned Commercial area in cross-functional Operating Model initiatives
  • Supports/represents Novo Nordisk Inc. Leadership in Long Term Forecast processes
  • Leads the annual business planning process informing the cross-functional assigned Commercial Area Anchor Budget (AB) to ensure anchoring of prioritized initiatives and providing overview of all investments impacting P&L
  • Supports and drives strong prioritization of opportunities, initiatives, programs and projects based on company objectives
  • Internal communication plan: prepare, coordinate, pull through and follow up on the internal communications plans. Ensure that relevant content is pulled through in an innovative way through a variety of channels

Physical Requirements
0-30% overnight travel required.

  • A Bachelor’s degree required. Master degree in relevant area (e.g. Finance, Economics or Engineering) preferred
  • At least 10 years of relevant marketing, product management experience, business analysis, strategic planning, finance or related business experience required, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry demonstrating a steady career progression
  • At least 5 years of proven project management experience leading complex cross-functional projects
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business requirements and operate at both the strategic and tactical level
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipating problems and roadblocks
  • Conversant in investment modelling and Return On Investment (ROI) assumptions and calculations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to broad, complex issues with minimal oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to establish highly effective partnership and stakeholder coalitions
  • Excellent written, verbal, collaboration/interpersonal communication skills. Outstanding presentation skills for deliveries to executive management. Relevant communications experience
  • Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting. Prior top-tier consulting experience preferred
  • Proven project and change management experience. Continuous improvement mind-set
  • Proven ability to work with senior management and leadership teams
  • Proven big picture and long term strategic thinking abilities
  • Very strong analytical capabilities, quantitative skills and ability to synthesize complex information into user-friendly, persuasive formats/presentations
  • Proven leadership experience in enhancing matrix organization efficiencies and performance through innovative and strategic solutions
