The Position
The position is the face of finance towards the Business units and provide stewardship for the Business Unit P/Ls as well as resource allocation in and across the business units. It sets direction for and continuously develops the financial planning and analysis at NNI and leads the engagement with the business in ensuring formal and informal guidance and analysis to facilitate strong financially founded business decision. Additionally, the position is responsible for growing and maintaining a best in class Cost management center of excellence as well as a best in class volume forecasting center of excellence in order to prepare an objective forecast supported by insight & analytics, supporting an accurate and timely monthly financial close, and ensuring business unit stakeholders have a complete understanding of financial performance as well as potential risks and opportunities.


Relationships
The position reports to the Vice President (VP) of Finance and Supply Chain and is a key member of the Finance & Supply Chain Leadership team. The position fosters close, cooperative relationships with peer/thought leaders and other senior leaders across the organization.


Essential Functions
  • Sets direction for the business unit planning process and leads the business unit planning processes. Partner with Brand VPs, Strategic Pricing and Market Access to understand demand trends, business risks and opportunities and to shape NNIs approach/policies to incorporate into financial forecasts & actual bookings
  • Oversee the business unit financial performance process and production as well as lead production of daily, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports and analytics. Ensure reporting is timely and accurate while providing key stakeholders with the appropriate level of business understanding
  • Routinely communicates business unit and company consolidated financial and operational performance trends, historical and forecasted, using appropriate metrics. Bring recommendations, trends, resulting implications, key actions, and strategic implications to relevant stakeholders in the business unit as well as NNI level and Headquarter (HQ)
  • Drive Operational Effectiveness in relation to own and related business process. Continuously evaluate opportunities to optimize and offshore in order to deliver the results the most effective
  • Coach staff members to engage closely with Business Unit stakeholders in supporting and challenging resource allocation, business cases, commercial opportunities, tactical planning and spend prudence as well as knowledge in support of providing key stakeholders with a clear understanding of performance drivers and general outlook

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.



Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that ongoing expectation alignment are performed so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.


Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A Master’s degree in finance, accounting or other business related function is preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible accounting/financial analysis related experience is required.
  • At least 3 years in the pharma industry experience is required.
  • At least 5 years supervisory experience required.
  • Requires leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate a vision and engage people in that vision
  • Ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, industry knowledge, experience, and judgment. Ability to utilize time effectively; sets priorities in order to manage multiple projects with time sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and skill at auditing to ensure accuracy
  • Demonstrates excellent written, verbal (telephone and in-person), and active listening skills
  • High level of stakeholder management as well as communication ability and a mindset to service Internal and External Customers and provide highest level of support as possible
  • Is proactive and can think ahead and initiate next steps without being asked; pursues everything with energy, drive and a need to finish; seldom gives up before finishing a difficult or cumbersome project. Manages multiple internal relationships at all levels of the business. Strong interface with senior level management concerning matters of importance to the Company
