The Position
Responsible for the establishing and leading continuous development of NNI Strategic Scenario Forecasting model and process. Responsible for coordination of NNIs input to NN Long Term Financial plan. Responsible for forecasting of financial impact to NNI of business development opportunities. Provides leadership in support of Novo Nordisk, Inc.’s medium to longer term financial outlook, inclusive of multiple levels of NNI and Global collaboration and inputs. This role will lead development and execution of cross-organizational strategic scenario forecasts to support the strategy development at enterprise and business unit level, potential mergers and acquisitions as well as the mid to long-term optimization of North American investments and resources

Relationships
Reports to the Vice President (VP), Finance and Supply Chain. 1 Direct report. Internal interactions include NNI Enterprise strategy team, Executive Team, Executive Office, NNI LT, functional leads, NN Insights & Forecasting, Corporate Financial Planning, Business Development and other Headquarters (HQ) counterparts to ensure strategic scenario forecasting coordination across Novo Nordisk. External relationships may include interactions with various subject matter experts and vendors based on the needs of special projects or implementation of new programs.


Essential Functions

  • Actively engage with key stakeholders to ensure development of relevant financial scenarios to support and direct the NNI enterprise and portfolio strategy development
  • Actively engage with stakeholders to ensure aligned and consolidated NNI input to the Novo Nordisk Long Term Financial Forecasting process
  • Ensure the coordination and synchronization of the finance scenario forecasting process with other relevant recurring NN forecast processes (annual budget, mid-term plan, risk tracking, strategic planning)
  • Drive the process to evaluate financial impact to NNI of potential business acquisitions in close collaboration with local and global stakeholders
  • Synthesize and assess strategies across enterprise and business units to clearly highlight the key parameters, value drivers, and sensitivities for any given scenario forecast from a financial perspective. Ensure clear communication of same to key line of business and executive stakeholders
  • Develop financial recommendations based on internal and external analyses and investment alternatives
  • Actively manages the strategic scenario forecasting at NNI in support of the 3-5 year’s business strategy for Novo Nordisk, Inc. to ensure evidence based foundation for strategic direction for NNI and the Business Units (BU)
  • Establishes and continuously adapts NNIs strategic forecasting process to guide and coordinate various levels of cross-organizational input to strategic forecasts in guidance of strategy development, business development and ad hoc scenarios
  • Maintains an enterprise lens to ensure enterprise-wide initiatives, scenarios, risks, and opportunities are reflected in the financial scenarios
  • Ensures alignment of BU and Functional (Diabetes Sales, Market Access, and Medical) processes to NNI’s scenario forecasting process in order to drive simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency relative to pursuing common goals
  • Partners with BUs to facilitate development of relevant financial scenarios for business unit and portfolio strategy development
  • Conducts trade-off analyses to inform investment decisions
  • Partners with Enterprise Strategy, Commercial Insights and Analytics, Patient Centered Outcomes Research (PCOR), Market Access, Public Affairs and Clinical Medical Regulatory (CMR) as well as and BU leaders to drive and align strategic scenario forecasting inputs and outputs
  • Serves as liaison and strong collaborator with NNI and Global stakeholders
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.

Development of People
Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.


Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required
  • A master’s and or advanced degree is required in Business Administration, finance, accounting or other business related functions; solid, relevant experience may be substituted for the Master's degree, when appropriate
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressively relevant financial planning, strategic planning, merger and acquisition, consultancy experience required; pharmaceutical or CPG industries strongly preferred. 3+ years supervisory experience required
  • Strategy development as well as Business Development experience strongly preferred
  • Understanding of the external marketplace and familiarity in metabolic disease areas preferred
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and financial forecasting ability. Ability to work across functions and levels as well as with senior management and communicate effectively to the highest level of executives
  • Strong decision-making skills through demonstrated ability to leverage evidenced-based insights and sound judgement into strategy development, deployment and optimization
  • Project management, process development and change management experience a plus
  • Ability to manage competing priorities; strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to streamline and simplify complex concepts for broader audience
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to influence multiple levels of leadership
