The Senior Manager Obesity Insights & Analytics reports to the Associate Director Obesity Insights & Analytics. The senior manager interacts regularly with the Vice President (VP) Obesity Commercial Lead, Regional Business Directors, Marketing leadership, Senior Brand Director, Senior Director Obesity Management, Sales Execution leadership and other key stakeholders. Other relationships include interactions with Forecasting, Strategic Pricing, Market Access Strategy and Innovation, Commercial Operations, Commercial Insights & Analytics, and Human Resource (HR). External relationships include consultant partners, data providers, market research partners, and information technology partners.

The Position
The Senior Manager - Obesity Insights & Analytics is responsible for providing insights and analytics support to leadership in the Obesity Business Unit. The Senior Manager will function as a strategic partner to the Obesity Commercial lead, their leadership team, and Marketing leadership who has responsibility over Obesity sales representatives, and Obesity educators. The Senior Manager will proactively identify critical business drivers/ opportunities and develop recommendations to guide strategy. This Senior Manager also manages market research projects to identify insights relating to field effectiveness of sales and educators. An ideal candidate for this role will have strong experience developing insights by analyzing various sources of information, a proven ability to partner with senior level executives, and a demonstrated ability to drive the development of strategic plans to drive business changes.

Essential Functions
  • Establish strategic business partner relationship with Vice President (VP) Obesity Commercial Lead, Regional Business Directors, Director of Commercial Execution, Senior Brand Director, Senior Director Obesity Management
  • Perform analysis and develop insights based on various market dynamics, including healthcare professional (HCP) behavior, Health System impact, market access influence and other market players
  • Develop local market insights to inform commercial strategy, planned tactics and execution
  • Partner with VP Obesity Commercial Lead, directors, Sales Execution, Senior Brand Director, and Senior Director Obesity Management to plan and execute key initiatives based on insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with other insights & analytics functions, including Diabetes Insights & Analytics to align on strategy, share insights and learn from best practices
  • Partner with VP Obesity Commercial Lead, directors, Sales Execution, Senior Brand Director, and Senior Director Obesity Management to support business planning process
  • Conduct deep dives on specific topics within area and regions to find root causes, identify opportunities and define solutions
  • Establish strong knowledge of local market levers and available tools to define recommendations applicable to defined area and regions
  • Provide strategic guidance to support brand and launch plans
  • Leads market research projects to assess sales force and obesity educator effectiveness and identify and communicate key insights relating to execution strategy to commercial leadership
  • Oversee the management of qualitative and quantitative market research projects, associated budgets, timelines and relations with outside consultants
  • Partner with Advanced Analytics to continually build new capabilities and experiment with analytical methods
  • Conducts hypothesis-driven investigations into detailed geographic and transactional-level data, to gain business insights from various customer perspectives (HCPs, patients, payers) independently or with collaboration with other analytics teams
  • Develops innovative solutions to unstructured, complex problems; recommendations have significant impact on company (time, people, budget) resources and may affect ability to achieve company goals
  • Interprets and contextualizes analytical findings within the framework of existing body of research and market trends
  • Ad hoc analyses to address issues in support of business objectives and incorporate needs and opportunity assessments
  • Champion the Triple Bottom Line in business analytics and internal strategy consulting
  • Demonstrate creative simple approaches toward solving complex problems
  • Coach or train junior level staff on analytical approaches, techniques, synthesized storytelling presentation development, business issue identification and methods for addressing, etc.
  • Pro-actively seek process improvement opportunities by challenging existing processes, proposing solutions, and driving approved implementation plan
  • Strive to develop and deploy innovative techniques and maintain awareness of 'best practices ' across industries by maintaining a current familiarity with analytics and field business assessments

Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required.

  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited institution is required. Preferred degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering, finance, or business. A Masters degree is preferred
  • 7+ years analytics experience is preferred. Pharmaceutical analytics and/or consulting experience is strongly preferred. Relevant consulting experience may be substituted as deemed appropriate
  • Advanced analytical skills preferred
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, environment, with a focus on delivering high quality analytics, insights and reports
  • Advanced analytics and data visualization skills are preferred - R, SAS, Tableau, Qlik, Python, etc.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical data, specifically Xponent, Xponent PlanTrak, and Chargeback data is preferred
  • Innate intellectual curiosity, demonstrated desire to take initiative and ability to think creatively to solve problems
  • Project management skills
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Statistical programming experience preferred
